Community Service
For over 25 years, Lara has volunteered in the community from the annual Frederick Health Fairs and In The Streets, to local Braddock Heights and Middletown events.
Lara was the first woman to chair the Frederick County Board of Appeals for Zoning. She also chaired the Frederick County Social Services Board, and was the Vice Chair of the statewide Maryland Association of Social Service Boards.
Lara has also volunteered to sit on the board of directors for such Frederick County organizations as the Xi Loi Meditation Center, Frederick Asian American Center, FreedomHill Fellowship, Women's Democratic League of Frederick County, and Braddock Heights Community Association.
Her depth of interests led her to volunteer as the homeschool coordinator for the FreedomHill Fellowship’s Homeschool Umbrella, complete the Maryland Master Naturalist training in the Piedmont and Coastal areas, and was a member of the 30th anniversary class of Leadership Frederick County.
